- This lamp, with its antiqued finish, snake-like handles, and a handmade linen-mix shade from the Netherlands, brings a touch of historical charm to your decor. Illuminate your space with the timeless elegance and refined artisanship of this exquisite piece.
- HISTORIC PROVENANCE
- The Table Lamp Antonine takes its design inspiration from a marble vase with handles created from intertwined serpents (2nd half of the 2nd century CE) at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The Roman original is recognized as one of the finest and best-preserved examples of this type of vessel, with strigulated, or scaped, “S”-shaped reliefs carved across the body. The serpents, with their mouths seemingly biting the rim, were associated with chthonian, or underworld, powers, and were regarded by the Greeks and Romans as guardians of sacred places, houses, and tombs. However, in the absence of a funerary inscription, it’s impossible to determine whether this vase was originally intended as an ash urn or created for purely decorative use. Our reinterpretation has been crafted with a marble finish and a linen-mix shade handcrafted in the Netherlands.

Durable but losses interest

My dog is an aggressive chewer. She was interested in this toy while it was new, but soon after lost interest. Good news is although it took a beating it did not break or splinter. If soppy toys are disposable in your house, give it a try.
